Masterclass with Cellist

We offer you a unique opportunity to work with Vilém Vlček – one of the most outstanding Czech cellists of his generation.
We invite young cellists to an intensive four-day masterclass focused on interpretation, individual coaching, and sharing experiences from studying and performing abroad, international competitions, and building a professional musical career.
We offer you the opportunity to learn from a musician who is successfully active on the international stage and who passes on his experience to the next generation of young artists.
The masterclass is open to both active participants and the public.

Who is the masterclass for?
The masterclass is intended for young cellists aged 15–30 from the Czech Republic and abroad.
Selection is based on two recordings of pieces from contrasting stylistic periods and a CV, all of which will be personally reviewed by Vilém Vlček. The number of active participants is limited.

Applications are accepted until 10 July 2026 at midnight.
Participants arrange their own accommodation and meals individually.
The public is welcome to attend the lectures and the final concert.
The programme will also include talks and discussions

international competitions and professional experience
meeting a guest from among international musicians
Final Concert
Galerie Lapidárium / Prague

The culmination of the masterclass will be a public concert by the participants
at Galerie Lapidárium as part of the Hudba mezi obrazy concert series.

Vilém Vlček
Vilém Vlček is among the most outstanding Czech cellists of his generation.
At a young age, he went abroad to study and has since performed on major international stages throughout his career. His career path reflects the journey many young musicians aspire to take – from studying abroad and participating in international competitions to building a professional concert career.
He is the recipient of the Jiří Bělohlávek Award, winner of the Krzysztof Penderecki International Cello Competition in Kraków, and winner of the International Instrumental Competition in Markneukirchen.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with leading orchestras, is also deeply engaged in teaching, and shares his experience with the younger generation of musicians.
He currently serves as an assistant at Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin).
